Impact Resistant aka Class 4 Shingles are becoming increasingly popular in North Texas. You know what they say... Don't like the color of your shingles? Just wait a few more months! (Okay, That may not be a saying) Though, this is not an actual statement, it is true. North Texans are no strangers to storms, hail especially.
A Class 4 shingle/ Impact Resistant Shingle is a shingle that is made to better withstand typical hail storms. This is not to say , it is in fact, hail proof. However, it is quite durable. Some insurance carriers even offer discounts on premiums for upgrading to this material.
A traditional laminated comp shingle has a manufacturer's warranty of around 30 years. These class 4 systems hold a 50 year manufacturer's warranty.
Just as other shingle types, there are many options, manufacturer's, colors, designs, etc. Finding one that fits your home, suits your neighbors, and hoa, may not be out of reach.
We are looking to install as many of these systems as possible for residents across the metroplex. This type of shingle will not be the best fit for every project, but will put some homeowners at ease once hail comes knocking again.
